Your books, at ten‑key speed.
Tenkey is money software for people who run a business without an accounting team. It's fast, it works from the keyboard, and it keeps your business and household books side by side in one file on your computer. Bring an AI agent if you like: it proposes, you approve.
The first builds are going to early testers. Want one?
No account to create. Your books stay on your computer.
- QuickBooks Online
- QuickBooks Desktop
- Xero
- Wave
- Quicken and Money (QIF)
- Any bank's OFX, QFX or CSV
Switch in an afternoon. Bring your history from any of these, and Tenkey recreates every account and transaction, then checks each balance against the old books to the cent.
Desktop money software used to be fast, private and yours. Then it moved into a browser tab and got slower every year. Tenkey brings the good part back, and adds what matters now.
Every screen works without the mouse.
A register like the desktop money apps had, with inline entry and payee autocomplete. J and K move, Enter edits, N starts a new transaction and Ctrl K jumps anywhere. Press ? for the rest.
Statements come in already cleared, rules file the regulars, and balancing against a statement is the Balance button you remember: tick what's on it, finish at zero.
Your agent does the busywork. You approve it.
Tenkey comes with an MCP server, so Claude or any other MCP client can read your books and propose changes: categorize last month, enter a bill, draft an invoice, write a rule.
Nothing posts until you approve it, all at once or change by change, and every approval can be undone. Don't want AI at all? Switch it off and it's gone.
Year end in one click.
Profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance and general ledger, for the business, the household, or both. One click makes the package your accountant wants: every report and the full journal as CSV, with a note of anything still open.
In the US, Schedule C and contractors' 1099 totals add up as you go.
Everything a small business needs.
Nothing it doesn't.
-
A file you own
Your books are one
.tenkeyfile on your computer. It works offline, backs up like any file, and exports to CSV or Beancount whenever you like. -
Business and personal, kept apart
Both sets of books in one place. Put a business expense on your personal card and Tenkey books the owner's contribution on both sides.
-
Straight from the bank
Mercury and Wise connect directly with a read-only token, with no aggregator in between. Every other bank works through the statements it already lets you download.
-
Stripe and the App Store, done right
Sales, fees and refunds go through a clearing account, and each payout matches the deposit already in your bank, so nothing is counted twice.
-
Invoices, bills and what's coming up
Send invoices by email or as a PDF, enter the bills vendors send, and schedule the rent. Tenkey matches each payment when the statement comes in.
-
Rules that file things for you
Always put Blue Bottle under Coffee, or split the phone bill 60/40 between home and business. Tenkey suggests rules from what you already do.
-
Any country, any currency
Books in your own currency, with VAT or GST where that's what you charge. Foreign accounts and invoices are valued at the European Central Bank's daily rates.
-
Every change, undoable
Tenkey keeps a journal of every change, by you or your agent. See what happened in History and undo it, even a whole import.
-
Only what you use
Don't send invoices? Turn invoicing off and it's gone from the app. Every optional feature works that way, and nothing is deleted when you do.
Questions
Are my books in the cloud?
No. They're a file on your computer, and Tenkey works offline. Keys for your bank, Stripe or App Store connections are kept in your computer's protected storage, never in the file. Optional sync between your own devices is on the way.
Do I have to use AI?
No. Everything works without it, and you can switch agents off entirely. When they're on, they can only propose changes; you decide what goes into the books.
Which banks does it work with?
Any bank that lets you download statements as OFX, QFX, QIF or CSV, which is nearly all of them. Mercury and Wise connect directly, and so do Stripe and App Store Connect.
Can I bring my QuickBooks history?
Yes. Drop in an export from QuickBooks Online or Desktop, Xero or Wave, and Tenkey recreates your chart of accounts and every transaction, then checks each balance against the old books to the cent.
Will my accountant be able to work with it?
Yes. They get a year-end package with the standard reports and the full journal as CSV, so they can use whatever software they already use.
Does it work outside the US?
Yes. Pick your country and currency when you set up. A UK business keeps its books in pounds, says VAT on its invoices and never sees a 1099.
